Two licences, two legal entities, and which one takes Vietnamese clients

Pepperstone holds licences in both places and both are registered under the brand's own name, which is less obvious than you might think, because among the 20 brokers I follow, three hold their licences under a completely different name.

RegisterNumberLegal entity
ASIC (Australia)AFS 414530Pepperstone Group Limited · ABN 12 147 055 703
CySEC (Cyprus)CIF 388/20Pepperstone EU Limited

What you need to know: these two legal entities serve two different groups of clients, and clients outside Australia/the EU are usually placed with a third legal entity in a jurisdiction with a different level of protection. Open your account terms and read the company name written there, because that name decides where you can file a complaint.

Cross-checking two registers: Pepperstone stands under its own name

Reputable, yes, and of a rare kind. Among the 10 brokers with an ASIC licence that I follow, only 4 can be found on the register under their own brand name, and Pepperstone is one of them. The broker has operated since 2010 and holds six licences, including FCA, ASIC, CySEC, BaFin, DFSA and SCB.

The question not yet fully answered sits in the second half of the title: who is it suited to? This Pepperstone review 2026 answers with facts, and the crux is still which legal entity actually signs the contract with you.

Details from the AFS register, 8/2026 edition: PEPPERSTONE GROUP LIMITED, AFS Licence 414530, granted 04/02/2013, registered in Docklands VIC. Typing “Pepperstone” into the ASIC register brings up exactly this entry.

Besides these two licences, the broker also declares FCA (UK), BaFin (Germany), DFSA (Dubai) and SCB (Bahamas).

This broker is one you can find by its brand name: typing "Pepperstone" into the ASIC register returns the licence above. Of the 10 brokers with an ASIC licence that we track, only 4 work this way.

Six licences, but which legal entity do Vietnamese clients sign with?

This is the question worth asking. The Australian and EU legal entities in the table above serve the matching groups of clients; clients outside Australia/the EU, that is, you, are usually placed with a third legal entity in a jurisdiction with a different level of protection, in exchange for higher leverage.

A list of six licences sounds impressive, but what decides your right to complain is a single line: the company name written in your account terms. Open them and read that line before depositing, with Pepperstone or with any broker.

Razor or Standard: a question of adding up fees

Pepperstone offers two account types, and the right choice depends on how often you trade:

Razor, spreads from 0.0 pip + commission of ~7 USD round turn on MT4/MT5 (~6 USD on cTrader). Cheaper for people who trade a lot, provided you add the full commission when comparing.

Standard, spreads from 1.0 pip, no commission. A single figure, easy to track, suited to people who trade infrequently.

The mistake I see most often: comparing Razor's 0.0 pip spread with another broker's spread while forgetting those 7 USD round turn. As a rough conversion, 7 USD/lot is equivalent to ~0.7 pip on EUR/USD; add it in before concluding whether it is cheap or expensive.

The minimum deposit starts at 10 USD and the broker recommends 200 USD. The nominal entry level is low, but the recommended figure is the one that reflects who the broker is really aiming at.

Deposits and withdrawals at Pepperstone

Bank transfer, cards, e-wallets and PayPal are supported; withdrawals are usually processed quickly within the business day. E-wallets usually arrive faster than bank transfers, and fully KYC-verified accounts are less likely to be delayed. There is nothing unusual to report in this section, and for a broker, that is a compliment.

Platforms: Pepperstone's real selling point

MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView, all four, something very few brokers offer. People used to MetaTrader do not have to change their habits; scalpers have cTrader; people who live on charts trade directly from TradingView. Add fast execution infrastructure and VPS support, and this is a platform line-up I place among the best for professional traders.

Is Pepperstone a scam?

No. Six licences including FCA and ASIC, 16 years of operation since 2010. This is not the profile of a scam operation, and I have not recorded any serious complaints such as systematic withdrawal blocking.

Negative reports about this broker, once unpacked, usually fall into three groups familiar across the industry: not reading the account conditions carefully, blowing up an account with high leverage, and being asked for additional verification when withdrawing a large amount.

The last group is a compliance procedure: the stricter a broker is about regulation, the more often it asks for documents. Annoying, but not a trick to hold on to your money. The one thing to remember: Pepperstone is not licensed in Vietnam, and you bear the responsibility for your choice.

Bottom line: who is Pepperstone for?

Here is a concrete profile: you have been trading for a while, want to stand on a solid regulatory base, need cTrader or TradingView, and accept that commission goes into your cost calculation. Pepperstone is for you.

On the other hand, if you want bonuses, need in-depth Vietnamese-language support, or are just starting out with a few dozen dollars, this broker will feel “dry” to you. Beginners who want to try it should still start with small capital and low leverage, and verify the withdrawal cycle before scaling up.

Pros
  • Strong set of licences (FCA/ASIC/CySEC…)
  • Supports TradingView + cTrader + MT4/MT5
  • Competitive Razor spreads
  • Fast execution, suited to professional traders
Cons
  • Not many bonuses like offshore brokers
  • Beginners need to get used to commission costs

Check Pepperstone yourself before depositing a large amount

  1. Real cost. Open the price board on your own account at two different times of day, then add spread and commission into a cost per lot. The figure the broker publishes is an average; what you get on a given trade can be higher.
  2. Withdrawal speed. Withdraw a small amount first and note when you requested it and when the money arrived. Speed depends on the payment channel and your verification status, so there is no single figure.
  3. Legal entity. Read the company name in your account terms. That name decides where you can complain.
