This review scores trading conditions. The legal entity and licences are covered separately: Is XM a scam? Licences and the real risks (2026)
XM (part of Trading Point / XM Global, founded 2009) attracts Vietnamese traders with deposits from just 5 USD, more than 1,000 products and a deep library of Vietnamese-language training.
XM's licences and the truth about the Belize legal entity
For beginners with small capital in Vietnam, XM is almost the default: deposits from 5 USD, extensive Vietnamese-language materials, support that includes Vietnamese. I do not object to that default.
But there are three things the advertising does not tell you: you will almost certainly be under the Belize legal entity, not ASIC; XM's bonus has a deduction mechanism that most people only discover when they withdraw; and the Standard spread of ~1.6 pip is not cheap at all if you trade a lot. Read those three points, then decide.
XM, a brand of Trading Point, founded 2009, headquartered in Cyprus / Belize, operates through multiple legal entities with FSC (Belize), ASIC (Australia), CySEC (Cyprus) and DFSA (Dubai) licences.
In the AFS register, 8/2026 edition, the name of the legal entity will surprise you:
| ASIC AFS register, August 2026 edition | |
|---|---|
| Licence number | AFS 443670 |
| Licensed entity | trading.com Markets Pty Ltd |
| Date granted | 23/12/2013 |
| ABN/ACN | 32 164 367 113 |
TRADING.COM MARKETS PTY LTD. AFS Licence 443670, granted 23/12/2013, SYDNEY NSW.
Worth knowing before you check it yourself: typing "XM" into the ASIC register search returns a different company, Axm Solutions Pty Ltd, unrelated to this broker. Only a search by AFS number 443670 returns the right one.
Note when you check it yourself: this licence is not held under the name XM but under trading.com Markets Pty Ltd.
Now for the part that matters more than the list of licences. XM advertises ASIC/CySEC, so many Vietnamese traders assume they are protected by these Tier-1 regulators.
In reality, when they sign up, Vietnamese clients are almost always placed under the XM Global (Belize) legal entity, with higher leverage but much weaker regulatory oversight than ASIC/CySEC. “I thought I was protected by ASIC” is the line I hear most often when talking about XM, and it goes wrong at the word “thought”.
On fund safety, the broker applies segregation of client money and negative balance protection for retail clients.
Accounts and costs: cheap for whom, expensive for whom
XM offers more than 1,000 instruments, forex, metals, energy, indices, stocks and cryptocurrencies (CFDs), across four account groups:
Micro, small volumes, deposits from 5 USD, for beginners practising at low risk.
Standard, no commission, floating spread, EUR/USD usually around ~1.6 pip.
Ultra Low, better suited to people who trade a lot.
Shares, trading real stocks.
A simple comparison: 1.6 pip on Standard versus ~0.7 pip all-in at Raw ECN brokers. Someone placing a few trades a month will not feel that gap; someone placing a few trades a day will feel it very clearly.
XM is cheap to get into, not cheap to trade with. Leverage goes up to 1:1000 under the offshore legal entity, which is high, and the higher it is, the easier it is to blow up your account without money management.
The XM bonus trap: you only learn about the deduction when you withdraw
The story repeated most often around XM is not the spread but the bonus. The real mechanism: the deposit bonus is deducted proportionally when you withdraw capital; withdraw 50% of your principal and you also lose 50% of the bonus you currently hold.
The bonus cannot be withdrawn directly either; it only serves as margin, and only the profit generated from trading can be withdrawn.
Nothing here breaks the rules. The conditions are all written in the terms. But where they sit in the terms and where the word “BONUS” sits in the advertising are quite far apart. Read the conditions before accepting the bonus; do not let the bonus figure decide for you.
Deposits, withdrawals and rebates (backcom)
XM supports bank transfer, Visa/Mastercard and common e-wallets, with no deposit/withdrawal fees on the broker's side. Most withdrawals are processed within the business day; e-wallets usually arrive faster than bank transfers.
Then there is the matter of rebates (backcom), the thing many introducing brokers (IBs) use to win clients. These are the rebate rates in the site's rebate table (updated 23/10/2026, paid daily):
| 1 lot | Standard | Ultra Low |
|---|---|---|
| XAU/USD (Gold) | $15.30 | $9.00 |
| EUR/USD | $8.10 | $3.15 |
| GBP/USD | $8.10 | $3.15 |
| USD/JPY | $8.10 | $2.70 |
| AUD/USD | $8.10 | $4.50 |
| USD/CAD | $8.10 | $4.50 |
Before opening an account through any partner, I recommend asking about four things: the rebate rate for each pair and each account type; stated as a money amount per lot, not a percentage; a detailed rebate history for each trade; and a fixed payment cycle, with no change of conditions after you have deposited. If a partner is vague on any of these questions, look for another partner.
Platforms, support and community in Vietnam
Platforms include MT4, MT5 (desktop/web/mobile) and XM App: stable, with plenty of indicators, able to run EAs, suitable for both beginners and robot users.
Where XM genuinely stands out against brokers in the same segment: support in more than 30 languages including Vietnamese, available 24/5, plus a very deep library of Vietnamese-language training materials and webinars.
The matching downside: there is no legal representative office in Vietnam yet, and support is not always 24/7.
Breaking down the complaints against XM, fairly
Conclusion: with its FSC/ASIC/CySEC/DFSA record and 17 years of operation since 2009, XM is not a scam operation. There has been no official scam report.
The real complaints still need to be told: some traders accuse XM of holding withdrawals and cancelling profits; there are reports of slippage, repeated requotes and sudden spread widening when the market is volatile.
For scalpers or news traders in particular, the following two things deserve serious consideration: the Standard spread is already ~1.6 pip, and it widens further when liquidity is thin, enough to ruin an entire high-frequency trading system.
The remaining complaints fall into three familiar groups: misunderstanding account conditions (especially the bonus, as discussed), blowing up accounts with 1:1000 leverage, and being asked for additional verification when withdrawing large amounts. XM is not licensed in Vietnam. You are responsible for your own choice.
Bottom line: who is XM for?
For beginners with small capital who need a low barrier to entry and Vietnamese-language learning resources; in this segment XM is among the best in Vietnam.
Not for high-frequency traders who are sensitive to fees and slippage; this group should look at Raw ECN brokers. Whichever group you are in: small capital first, low leverage, and read the bonus conditions carefully before accepting.
- Very low minimum deposit (5 USD)
- Plenty of Vietnamese-language training material
- Stable MT4/MT5
- No deposit/withdrawal fees from the broker
- Standard account spreads are higher than Raw/ECN
- Promotions require reading the conditions carefully
- Support is not always 24/7
Check XM yourself before depositing a large amount
- Real cost. Open the price board on your own account at two different times of day, then add spread and commission into a cost per lot. The figure the broker publishes is an average; what you get on a given trade can be higher.
- Withdrawal speed. Withdraw a small amount first and note when you requested it and when the money arrived. Speed depends on the payment channel and your verification status, so there is no single figure.
- Legal entity. Read the company name in your account terms. That name decides where you can complain.
What Vietnamese traders report about XM
Below are Vietnamese traders' real-world impressions of XM, compiled from public reviews and discussions, keeping both the strengths and the contested points, with sources cited so you can check for yourself.
- No deposit/withdrawal fees on the broker's side; 24/5 customer support in more than 30 languages, including Vietnamese, which beginners rate as easy to access. source↗
- Low barrier (deposits from 5 USD, a Micro account available) plus a deep library of Vietnamese-language training/webinars, suitable for people starting out. source↗
- Transparent cost structure: an Ultra Low account, a Zero account near 0 pip; a swap-free option is available. source↗
- The most frequently cited drawback: Vietnamese clients usually open accounts through XM's legal entity in Belize, where regulatory oversight is much weaker than FCA/ASIC. source↗
- Bonus conditions are easy to misunderstand: the bonus is deducted proportionally when you withdraw (withdraw 50% of your principal and you also lose 50% of the bonus), so read carefully before accepting it. source↗
- There are reports of delayed withdrawals/order execution during sharp market volatility (isolated cases), and the Standard account spread (~1.6 pip EUR/USD) is higher than the Raw/ECN group, not optimal for scalping. source↗
“I thought I was protected by ASIC”, in reality a Belize legal entity
XM advertises its ASIC/CySEC licences, so many Vietnamese traders assume they are protected by these Tier-1 regulators.
In reality, when they sign up, most Vietnamese clients are placed under the XM Global legal entity in Belize, where oversight is much lighter.
This does not mean XM is a scam, but it changes your real level of protection if there is a dispute.
Before depositing, check the terms/documents to see which legal entity you are opening your account under, a 30-second task that very few people do.
Is XM a scam? Breaking down the real complaints
The search term “XM scam” comes up a lot, so it needs to be faced head-on.
Real complaints from the community: some traders accuse XM of holding withdrawals and cancelling profits, along with reports of slippage, repeated requotes and sudden spread widening, and some even claim to have seen “abnormal candles” on the chart (discussion on TraderViet, a roundup of complaints).
On the other hand: XM is regulated by CySEC/ASIC and there is no official scam report.
A balanced assessment: XM is not an outright scam operation, but there are genuine complaints about transparency in execution and withdrawals, plus the risk of the Belize legal entity.
Trade with small capital, avoid entering orders close to news releases, and try an early withdrawal to verify for yourself.
Slippage, requotes & the bonus trap: what high-frequency traders must know
If you scalp or trade the news, two things at XM can easily ruin your results: slippage and requotes during volatility (the fill price differs from the price you clicked), and the Standard account spread, already ~1.6 pip, widening further when liquidity is thin.
Add the complex bonus terms, and many people report being unable to withdraw the bonus, some even running into problems withdrawing their principal.
Practical advice: use the Ultra Low account rather than Standard if you trade a lot, consider not accepting the bonus so withdrawals stay clean, and if clean execution is your priority, a Raw/ECN broker will suit you better than XM.
The community's bottom line: The community generally sees XM as a suitable broker for beginners thanks to Vietnamese-language support and no deposit/withdrawal fees, but notes the Belize legal entity and the bonus conditions. If low costs for high-frequency trading are your priority, consider the Zero account or a Raw/ECN broker.

Frequently asked questions
Which country is XM from?
XM belongs to the Trading Point group, operating since 2009, headquartered in Cyprus, with legal entities licensed by ASIC (Australia), CySEC (Cyprus), DFSA (Dubai) and FSC (Belize). Vietnamese clients trade with the group's international legal entity.
Is XM good for beginners?
XM is among the best in the beginner segment in Vietnam: deposits from 5 USD, a Micro account for practice, and extensive Vietnamese-language training and support. In return, its spreads are not the lowest, so active traders should also consider the ECN group.
Can the XM bonus be withdrawn?
XM bonus funds usually cannot be withdrawn directly; they are used as margin for trading, and only the profit generated from trading can be withdrawn, subject to the programme conditions. Always read the bonus terms carefully before taking part.
Does XM have a swap-free (Islamic) account?
Yes. XM offers an Islamic (swap-free) account option with no overnight charges, suitable for traders who follow no-interest rules. XM also has a free demo account for practising first.
