Licences the broker lists FCA · CySEC · KNF · FSC·head office Poland
XTB (operating since 2004, parent company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2016, FCA/CySEC/KNF licences) stands out for its financial transparency and the xStation 5 platform.
Listed parent company, and a Cyprus legal entity carrying the exact brand name
CySEC register, 19/08/2026: CIF 169/12, legal entity XTB Ltd. Three letters that match the brand exactly, with no former name attached.
The ASIC register has no XTB, and the broker does not claim ASIC either.
XTB's real difference lies outside the licence question: its parent company is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, so its financial statements must be published periodically under securities law.
In an industry where most brokers are private companies that do not publish their books, that is a layer of transparency a brokerage licence cannot provide.
Transparency a licence cannot buy: a listed company
Trustworthy, yes, and in a way few brokers in this review series can claim: XTB's parent company is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, which means its books must be published periodically under securities law.
But before you open an account, there is one very quick filter question: can you live without MT4/MT5? XTB has dropped MetaTrader entirely and runs only its own xStation 5 platform. If the answer is “no”, you can close this tab now; if it is “yes”, the XTB 2026 review below is for you.
XTB started in 2004 in Poland, as X-Trade Brokers, and holds FCA, CySEC, KNF (Poland) and FSC licences. In the CySEC register:
CIF 169/12, legal entity XTB Ltd, three letters that match the brand exactly, with no former name attached. The ASIC register has no XTB, and the broker does not claim ASIC either, a plus for honesty in its disclosures.
But what sets XTB apart lies outside the licence question. In an industry where most brokers are private companies that do not publish their books, XTB has a parent company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, with periodic, audited financial reports that anyone can read.
That is a layer of transparency no brokerage licence provides: you know whether the broker holding your money is making a profit or a loss.
The familiar drawback is still there: Vietnamese clients are often placed under an offshore legal entity with a very different level of protection from the FCA or CySEC. Read the name of the legal entity in your account terms. That is what actually decides it.
| CySEC register, 12/09/2026 | |
|---|---|
| Licence number | CIF 169/12 |

XTB Ltd Licence Number : 169/12 Licence Date: 18/04/2012 Company Registration Number : 296794
Typing "XTB" into the CySEC search box returns the entity above, so this is a broker you can check yourself by its brand name.
The same regulator keeps one more list that few people open: the domains each entity is allowed to
operate. For XTB Ltd, that list has
exactly one domain:
www.xtb.com/cy .
A domain you sign up on that is not in that list belongs to a different entity, not the Cyprus entity above.
xStation 5: XTB's platform gamble
The decision to drop MT4/MT5 is a decision that filters clients. People tied to EAs written for MetaTrader, people used to placing orders on MT5. XTB is simply no longer for them, with no grey area.
In return, xStation 5 (web + app) is easy to use: smooth charts, a built-in volume calculator and a cleaner workflow than MetaTrader in many respects. For a beginner not yet used to any platform, this may even be an easier start.
XTB costs: floating spreads and the charges that are easy to forget
The Standard account runs a floating spread with no commission for Forex/index CFDs. We found no published EUR/USD spread figure on XTB's account and fees page, so compare the live spread in xStation 5 with the broker you use now before moving.
A plus of its own: commission-free stock/ETF trading up to a limit. Something pure forex brokers do not have. The easy-to-forget point: XTB charges an inactivity fee; if you plan to open an account and leave it idle, this fee will slowly eat into your balance. No minimum deposit is required, so you can get in with 0.
Deposits and withdrawals at XTB
Supports bank transfer, cards and e-wallets; withdrawal requests are usually processed within the working day. E-wallets arrive faster than bank transfers, and a complete KYC makes everything smoother. There is no domestic channel built for the Vietnamese market like VietQR; here XTB falls behind brokers that focus on Vietnamese clients.
Is XTB a scam?
No. An FCA/CySEC/KNF/FSC record, operation since 2004, plus the financial disclosure obligations of a listed company: the probability of a scam model surviving in that setup is very low.
Negative reports about XTB mostly come back to places where users tripped themselves up: not reading the account conditions carefully (especially the inactivity fee), blowing the account through leverage, or frustration with the verification procedure when withdrawing large amounts; that procedure is compliance, not a trick to hold on to money.
The only thing to remember: XTB is not licensed in Vietnam, so you bear the responsibility for your own choice.
Who XTB suits: a two-question test
Question one: do you need MT4/MT5? If you do, cross XTB off. Question two: what do you value more, the financial transparency of a listed company or the lowest possible spread? Choose the first, and XTB deserves a place on your shortlist, especially if you also want to trade stocks/ETFs in the same account.
Choose the second, and the Raw ECN group serves you better. Beginners trying any broker should do the same: small capital, low leverage, test a withdrawal early.
- Parent company listed on a stock exchange (high transparency)
- Strong, easy-to-use xStation 5 platform
- No minimum deposit required
- FCA/KNF regulation
- No longer supports MT4/MT5 (xStation only)
- Charges an inactivity fee
Check XTB yourself before depositing a large amount
- Real cost. Open the price board on your own account at two different times of day, then add spread and commission into a cost per lot. The figure the broker publishes is an average; what you get on a given trade can be higher.
- Withdrawal speed. Withdraw a small amount first and note when you requested it and when the money arrived. Speed depends on the payment channel and your verification status, so there is no single figure.
- Legal entity. Read the company name in your account terms. That name decides where you can complain.

Frequently asked questions
Does XTB support MT4/MT5?
No. XTB has stopped supporting MetaTrader and focuses on its own xStation 5 platform (web + app). If you absolutely need MT4/MT5, XTB is not a fit; otherwise, xStation 5 is easy to use, with smooth charts and a built-in volume calculator.
Is XTB a scam?
XTB is highly transparent because its parent company (XTB S.A.) is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, alongside FCA, CySEC and KNF licences; it is not a scam. This is a big plus for trust compared with offshore brokers.
