AvaTrade (founded 2006, headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, licensed by CBI/ASIC/FSCA) scores well for its multi-tier licence set and fixed spreads that make costs easy to predict.

AvaTrade is regulated in 9 jurisdictions across 6 continents
AvaTrade promotes its licences in 9 jurisdictions, the broker's most prominent strength.

An Australian licence, yes; a Cypriot licence, no

The ASIC register on 19/08/2026 lists AFS 406684 in the name of Ava Capital Markets Australia Pty Ltd, ABN 72 143 340 907, effective from 09/11/2011.

The CySEC register on the same day has no company bearing the name Ava. AvaTrade also declares licences in Ireland, Japan, South Africa and a few other places.

A note for searching: the string "Ava" sits inside many other company names (Guava, for example), so if you search yourself, match the full name instead of stopping at a near match.

AvaTrade in 30 seconds

Trustworthy, as far as the register shows: AvaTrade holds a genuine ASIC licence, traceable down to the number, and the broker has run since 2006 without a scandal of the misappropriating-client-money kind. That is the short answer to the question “Is AvaTrade trustworthy”.

The longer answer lies elsewhere: which legal entity you will be placed under, and whether this broker's fixed spreads suit the way you trade. This AvaTrade review 2026 goes through each of those points.

The broker's score on the site's 6 criteria: 4.3/5, with the short label “multi-tier regulation, fixed spreads”.

Founded 2006, headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. Licences declared on the website: CBI (Ireland), ASIC (Australia), FSCA (South Africa), FSA, ADGM. Platforms: AvaTradeGO, MT4, MT5, WebTrader. Minimum deposit 100 USD, spreads from 0.9 pip on a fixed model.

On the ASIC register the licence exists, but typing “AvaTrade” returns nothing

This deserves to come first, because it is a trap for anyone checking on their own. Type “AvaTrade” into the ASIC register search box and you get zero results. It is not a phantom licence. The register only stores legal entity names, and this broker's Australian legal entity does not carry the word AvaTrade.

The AFS register, 8/2026 edition, shows:

ASIC AFS register, August 2026 edition
Licence numberAFS 406684
Licensed entityAva Capital Markets Australia Pty Ltd
Date granted09/11/2011

Matching line in the ASIC AFS Licensee register, open data file afs_lic_202608.csv (6,510 entries), as of 23/08/2026. Open source ↗

Worth knowing before you check it yourself: typing "AvaTrade" into the ASIC register search returns no results. Not because the licence does not exist, but because the register only stores the entity name. Search by AFS number 406684.

AVA CAPITAL MARKETS AUSTRALIA PTY LTD. AFS Licence 406684, issued 09/11/2011, SYDNEY NSW.

To check for yourself, search directly by the number AFS 406684. One more note for searching: the string “Ava” sits inside quite a few unrelated company names (Guava is one example), so do not stop at a near match; check the full name.

What about the CySEC register? Not a single line

The ASIC register on 19/08/2026 confirms AFS 406684 as above. The CySEC register on the same day has no company bearing the name Ava. This does not contradict what the broker declares, because AvaTrade does not claim CySEC; it declares Ireland, Japan, South Africa and a few other places.

How far AvaTrade's multi-tier regulation protects you

The list CBI/ASIC/FSCA/FSA/ADGM sounds very thick, and it is true that some of those licences belong to the strict group. But what determines your rights is not that list; it is the line with the legal entity name in your own account opening agreement.

For Vietnamese clients, the common scenario at multi-entity brokers is that the agreement falls under a branch outside the tightly regulated jurisdictions: in exchange for higher leverage, you lose most of the protection mechanisms that a client of the Irish or Australian legal entity enjoys.

Before depositing a single cent, open the terms and read exactly one line: the name of the company signing the agreement with you. That one minute is worth more than a whole session of reading reviews.

Fixed spreads from 0.9 pip: predictable, but not cheap

AvaTrade uses a fixed-spread model, from 0.9 pip, with two account groups: Retail runs on fixed spreads, Professional is for those who meet the advanced eligibility conditions.

Fixed means you know your cost in advance, with no worry about the spread shooting up when news comes out. The price of that peace of mind: 0.9 pip is clearly higher than the typical level of other brokers' Raw/ECN accounts, where spreads are close to 0 plus commission. If you place a few trades a week, the difference is not worth discussing.

If you place a dozen trades a day, the gap adds up to a figure you will want to recalculate. To compare which broker is cheaper, convert everything to the total cost per lot on the exact pair you trade most, including commission if any, instead of comparing two bare spread numbers.

Deposits and withdrawals: familiar channels, speed measured in business days

AvaTrade accepts bank transfer, card and e-wallets; withdrawals are processed on business days. E-wallets and crypto generally arrive faster than bank transfers, and accounts that have completed KYC are always processed more smoothly than accounts still missing documents.

Compared with the group of brokers whose automatic withdrawals are measured in minutes, AvaTrade's “business days” rhythm is something you should know in advance, not as a reason to rule the broker out, but so that it does not catch you by surprise.

Platforms: AvaTradeGO is the highlight, MT4/MT5 the familiar base

The full set: AvaTradeGO, MT4, MT5, WebTrader. MT4/MT5 need no introduction; anyone who has traded knows them. AvaTradeGO is the broker's own app, with an intuitive interface, suited to people who trade mainly on their phone. The CFD product range is fairly broad.

Is AvaTrade a scam?

No, based on what can be verified: CBI/ASIC/FSCA/FSA/ADGM licences and twenty years of operation since 2006 are not the profile of a scam operation.

So where do the complaints online come from? Read carefully, they converge on three familiar sources: users who did not read the account conditions and ended up disappointed; high leverage burning through an account and the broker getting the blame; and being asked for additional documents when withdrawing a large amount.

The third source is the one people cry foul about most, yet it is the least worrying, because it is a compliance procedure that every serious broker follows, not a trick to hold money.

What I have to repeat even though every article repeats it: AvaTrade is not licensed in Vietnam. If you choose to trade, you carry that legal risk yourself.

Who should open AvaTrade, and who should look elsewhere

AvaTrade suits you if these two things top your priority list: a licence profile spread across many jurisdictions for peace of mind on the legal side, and fixed costs so you do not have to worry about spreads widening.

On the other hand, if you scalp or trade at high frequency, this fee model will cost more than a Raw account elsewhere, and if the 100 USD minimum deposit is a figure you have to think twice about, the market has options that need less capital.

New to trading? Start with a small amount, keep leverage low, and trade on a trial basis long enough before talking about scaling up.

Pros
  • Very broad licence set (CBI/ASIC/FSCA…)
  • Fixed spreads, predictable costs
  • Intuitive AvaTradeGO app
  • Wide range of CFD products
Cons
  • Fixed spreads cost more than Raw/ECN accounts for high-frequency traders
  • Inactivity fee applies

Check AvaTrade yourself before depositing a large amount

  1. Real cost. Open the price board on your own account at two different times of day, then add spread and commission into a cost per lot. The figure the broker publishes is an average; what you get on a given trade can be higher.
  2. Withdrawal speed. Withdraw a small amount first and note when you requested it and when the money arrived. Speed depends on the payment channel and your verification status, so there is no single figure.
  3. Legal entity. Read the company name in your account terms. That name decides where you can complain.
