HFM deposits and withdrawals: fees, timing, 5 USD minimum
Picture a familiar situation: you have about 2–3 million VND and want to try live trading after a few months on demo. At a broker that sets a 50 USD minimum withdrawal, that capital gets lost: you can deposit it, but if you want to withdraw 20–30 USD you are blocked, and the money stays “stuck” in the account.
This is where HFM differs: the minimum withdrawal is only 5 USD, with no internal deposit or withdrawal fee on any channel, a policy that is friendly to people with small capital.
The big picture: which route does your money take?
Before the steps, it helps to understand that money at HFM moves through 2 layers: the myHF wallet (an intermediate wallet) and the trading account (Cent/Premium/Zero). Deposits land in the wallet first, then you move them into a trading account yourself, and the reverse when you withdraw.
This 2-layer design has a consequence people often overlook: moving money between the wallet and a trading account is instant and free.
So you can move profit back to the wallet right after each winning streak to “lock” it away from your own hands, a psychological money-management technique that many long-time traders use.
A real comparison of deposit channels for 100 USD
Say you deposit 100 USD (≈2.6 million VND at a reference rate of 26,000 VND/USD; check the real rate when you deposit). This is what actually happens on each channel:
| Channel | Money in the account after | Actual fee | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visa/Mastercard | Instant to 10 minutes | HFM: 0. The issuing bank may charge a foreign-currency transaction fee of ~1–2% | The card must have international payments enabled |
| USDT (crypto) | 5–30 minutes (depends on the blockchain) | HFM: 0. TRC20 network fee ~1 USD | Low fee, but you must send on the right network; the wrong network means the money is lost |
| E-wallet (Skrill/Neteller) | Instant | HFM: 0. Topping up the wallet itself from Vietnam costs quite a lot | Only worth it if you already have a wallet |
| Bank transfer | 1–3 business days | HFM: 0. SWIFT fees can be 10–25 USD | Only sensible for amounts of a few thousand USD or more |
Quick conclusion for small capital: card or USDT. A SWIFT transfer for 100 USD burns 10–25% of your capital on bank fees.
Making a deposit (3 minutes)
- Log in to myHF → menu Finance → Deposit.
- Choose a channel. For USDT, the system generates a wallet address: check the address and the network (TRC20/ERC20) carefully before you send. Sending on the wrong network loses the money, and nobody can get it back.
- The money arrives in the myHF wallet → click Transfer to move it into the trading account you want.
- Open MT4/MT5, pull up a chart and check that the Balance has updated.
Withdrawals: fast or slow depends on the channel you pick
HFM approves withdrawals fairly quickly (usually within the business day) and charges no withdrawal fee. But the time until the money ACTUALLY reaches your pocket varies widely between channels:
- USDT / e-wallets: a few minutes to 24 hours after approval. The fastest, suited to people who need to turn their capital over.
- Bank transfer: 1–10 business days depending on the receiving bank in Vietnam.
- Card: the slowest. It can take up to 10 days to show on your statement, because the money goes through the card network’s “refund” process, not an ordinary transfer. Many people think their money is being “held” when this is simply how Visa/Mastercard works.
The AML rule applies as at any regulated broker: your original capital must go back to the channel you deposited with. Deposit 100 USD by card and the first 100 USD you withdraw goes back to the card. Only profit above that amount can go by another channel (USDT for speed, for example).

4 real mistakes that leave Vietnamese traders with “stuck money” at HFM
Compiled from complaint patterns that keep coming up on trader forums. Every one of them is preventable:
- Depositing first, KYC later. A common mistake at many brokers. An unverified account can still deposit and trade, but withdrawals hang until the documents are approved. If there is a problem with them (a blurry photo, an address that does not match), the process drags on for a frustrating week. Get verified, then deposit.
- Withdrawing while holding a bonus that has not met its conditions. HFM often runs deposit bonus promotions, and a bonus always comes with a trading volume requirement. Withdrawing capital early usually cancels the bonus (and the profit generated from it, depending on the terms). Before you click withdraw, open the bonus section and see how many lots you still need.
- A receiving account name that does not match the profile name. Asking a spouse or friend to receive the money for you = a withdrawal that will certainly be rejected. This is an anti-money-laundering rule, with no exceptions.
- Sending USDT on the wrong network. Sending to a TRC20 address via ERC20 (or the other way round) loses the money for good. Always test with a small amount first when you use a new wallet address.

For small accounts: why is a 5 USD minimum withdrawal worth having?
With a Cent account (see how to open one in the guide to opening an HFM account), someone who deposits 50 USD and trades 0.1 cent lots could make 5–10 USD after a few weeks of good trading. A lot is the unit of trade size; one standard lot equals 100,000 units.
At a broker that requires a 50 USD minimum withdrawal, that profit cannot be withdrawn. You either “hold on” or deposit more, and both are forced decisions.
At HFM, you withdraw 5 USD to an e-wallet to pay yourself, a healthy psychological loop that we encourage newcomers to set up from the start: real profit → real withdrawal → confidence that rests on something, not on a number on a screen.
It is also the cheapest way to test a broker for yourself: 50 USD run through a full cycle of deposit, trading and withdrawal gives you real timings for your own account, something no fee table prints.
Spread is the gap between the buy price and the sell price, in other words the fee you pay on each trade. A full assessment of HFM’s regulation, spreads and account types is in the HFM review 2026.
